Raahi Mission

Raahi is Sanskrit for the word traveler. Knowledge is the great leveller that allows everyone to reach their full potential. And the medium of books metaphorically affords everyone to travel to all corners of this world of knowledge.

Reading coupled with an access to books is a powerful tool. It connects us to all forms of knowledge from the sciences to myths and fables, and strengthens and feeds our imaginations. It allows us to learn, grow, and increases our potential manifold. All of this potential, which springs from a love of learning, however, cannot become a reality if books constantly remain out of reach. Many times, despite being able to read, children in developing countries do not get an opportunity to utilize their gift, because either they or the schools they attend lack the resources to acquire books for them to read. Our mission at Raahi Readers is to help these children experience the joy of reading through the collection of age appropriate books in the US, which are then donated to said schools in order for them to set up their own library for their students. Our ultimate goal is to develop children’s natural curiosity into a love for reading that will accompany them into adulthood and enrich their lives for years to come.
